When it comes to a home water filtration system, there are two things you really need.

The Watts Premier RO-Pure uses a reverse osmosis system to purify water. In this process, water passes through a semi permeable membrane, a barrier that permits the passage of water but not harmful particles such as arsenic and lead or dangerous microorganisms such as giardia.

The Watts Premier really stands out via its 4-stage system.Let’s look at the 4-stage filtration process in more detail:

Stage one: A 5-micron sediment filter traps particulate matter. This removes substances such as dirt, rust, and silt.

Stage 2: A 5-micron carbon block filter works to remove chemicals such as chlorine. This is called the Pre-carbon filter.

Stage 3: The RO Membrane. This semi permeable membrane has a capacity of 50 gallon per day and works to lower a range of contaminants including TDS (total dissolved solids), along with minerals such as sodium, lead, arsenic, chromium, copper and radium, and nitrates and nitrites. The RO membrane can also remove over 99.95% of cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

As this thorough process takes time, the RO water treatment system is equipped with a storage tank.

Stage 4: A carbon filter offers a final filtration level as your water leaves the storage tank on its way to your faucet. This is known as the Post-carbon filter.

As you can see, this is a very thorough and powerful filtration system that works to remove virtually all of the contaminants you’re likely to find in your home water supply.

In the next part of this Watts Premier RO-Pure 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis System review, we’ll look at how easy it is to setup and use.

First, you need a hole in your sink for the faucet. Most sinks are pre drilled with 1½ or 1¼ diameter hole which is suitable for the RO-Pure. Otherwise, you’ll need to drill a hole yourself. This process depends on the material your sink is made of.

You then install the faucet and put in its battery. Then red and green lights on the unit will flash to indicate that both lights are functional.

In normal use, it flashes green only when the faucet is turned on. When your system is ready to be serviced, the light flashes red when the handle is turned to the ON position. This alerts you that the filters need changing.

You then need to find a space to fix the RO unit and the storage tank. Under the sink is the most convenient location, obviously but you can locate them up to 25 feet away. Clear, illustrated instructions are given in the supplied user manual.

One your Watts Premier RO-Pure system is installed, maintenance is easy. Each of the four filter units just snaps into place on the unit.
